Bootleg Movie Download

The bootleg movie download problem appears to be upsetting many movie companies, even though they have been ripping us off for years with the ridiculous prices for their movies in VHS and DVD formats.

Movies can be legally downloaded from file sharing programs for many years, as long as they are not protected by copyright. Here is an example of a site that offers you legal downloads after a once-only registration fee that lasts a lifetiem (you can even pass it on).

However, be sure to download only movies that are not protected by copyright in order to remain legal. This site also offers modern blockbusters that you should steer clear of: it would be illegal to download these bootleg movie downloads:

The Movie Downloads

However, when it became apparent that this copyright was being blatantly ignored what action did the movie companies take?

Did they respond by providing reasonably priced legal movie downloads in an effort to counteract the bootleg movie download that a youngster downloads because he or she couldn't afford the high prices?

NO!!

They responded by trying to take them to court. Rather than big studios such as MGM and Warner come to terms with the fact that kids knew more about how the internet worked than their highly paid staff, and either train that staff or fire them for their ignorance, they decided to take legal action. In other words they admitted that kids knew more about internet technology than they did! How pathetic!

In my view they deserve all they get, and should be castigated themselves for even thinking of taking these kids to court. Why not try it on all the Asians that are blatantly copying their bootleg movie downloads to DVDs and selling them online on auction sites such as eBay. They are easy to identify, but obviously not such easy game as a young high school kid.

If it happens to you then you should use that as a defense, and question why the professional bootleggers are being allowed to go free. It seems victimization of the young.

In effect they admitted defeat, because legal action can only have partial success. If every one of the millions that illegal download movies every day was prosecuted, the courts would grind to a halt, and everybody would go free. In fact you have more chance of winning the lottery than being prosecuted for a bootleg movie download.

And now they are trying to make peer-to peer (P2P) file sharing software illegal! Why? It is not the software that is illegal but the way it is used. This type of software is very widely used by artists trying to get their music heard, or their movies seen, without the high costs of professional promotion. They should not be allowed to make it illegal, and that makes me feel even more that they deserve every the illegal and bootleg movie download that people make.

Their technological ignorance and lack of internet savvy should not be allowed to affect those of us who use P2P file sharing software as it should be. Simply thinking about it renders these movie companies deserving not only of derision, but also of every bootleg movie download made. Most of these bootleg movies downloadsare made in China for copy to DVD and the consumer market. That is who they should be targeting.

Why should we be surprised at the Chinese being involved in the bootleg download movie business? We shouldn't, because they make most money from it. Don't ask us to do what you can't do yourselves. Offer us good realistic alternatives and we will go with you. We are not interested in the pleadings of the 'poor' actors who get paid obscene amounts of money for just one movie: cut their wages and perhaps we could afford your movies!

In saying this, I am nor advocating the use of P2P software to break the law and download copyright-protected material. This is illegal. However, it is better for the movie and music moguls to provide a viable affordable alternative than to prosecute those that do break the law in this way.

On April 9th, 2009, Clickbank removed all sites from their Marketplace that promoted the illegal downloading of copyrighted material. I have a download review site, on which three sites are still being promoted by Clickbank.

It can therefore be safely assumed that their use is legal, if not for downloading copyright-protected material, since no bootleg movie download site is legal if used improperly. Check out the review site here:
