With RTSP, this does not happen, since the packets do not reach your hard drive: they go straight to the video playback software. Therefore, while you are watching your movie, you could suddenly lose chunks of what you are watching, or it can suddenly become pixilated for a while. Your free online streaming movie does not seem so 'free' any more!

This problem is improving as connection speeds are being increased, but it still means that you are either watching a streaming video either with a protocol not designed for it, or one which can break up at any time. Either way is not good. Therefore, if you want to view a free streaming movie online, do not expect DVD quality.
